Slagterhouse '08

Another year of the Slagterhouse party has come and gone. Chris and Melissa always do an amazing job of decorating their house for the event. Melissa is of course the "Hostess with the Mostess" as my wife likes to say, and this year was no exception. From the homemade pumpkin beer to the black light room of scary words, they exceeded our expectations once again.

Our hosts, dueling it out as Stinker Bell and Peter Pansy.

The woman always wins of course...Cynthia and I came as our front lawn complete with yard signs. I was the head of the garden gnome, and she was the dog. We have neither in real life.Barry was a dead ringer for Bocephus.Mary came as Katherine Hepburn, and Emily as a geisha/kabuki girl.

Awesome Magenta and Riff Raff!

Other attendees...

I couldn't figure this one out at first. But then I thought...terrorist outfit, Obama support sticker,...of course! William Ayers. Nice Job!

There always has to be one guy who shows up in his mask and doesn't talk. We spent half the night trying to figure out if he was some random guy crashing the party.Nah, just Brian back from hunting...

You don't need a costume when you are such an obviously confused Democrat.

Some of the ladies enjoyed snacks in the kitchen. These were so good they called them "crack cookies".

Chris introduced everyone to the "Black Light Room of Scary Words".

He had a contest to see who could write down the most words from the walls. He claims that there was no word "boo". If you look at the picture above under the word "gruesome", you will see that the photographic evidence suggests otherwise. Not everyone was interested in a giant word search...Partygoers had a good time hanging out and dancing in the basement...

True movies stars always know when the camera is on them...

Emily held everyone's rapt attention while putting on an impromptu demonstration of Kabuki theater (minus the moving floors), showing that a costume demands "total immersion of self".

Proving that Emily was not the only one dedicated to her character, Magenta and Riff Raff led the group in a dance to "The Time Warp".Every year we all get to vote for our favorite costume. Chris and Melissa studiously tabulated the results and counted answers to the word search. Ignore the red arrow please.

Couldn't ignore it, could you?

Melissa handed out prizes...

While Bocephus (my first choice) and Magenta & Riff Raff looked wonderful, they were no match for our front yard. Cynthia and I accepted the first place prize with much humility and gratitude. Again.

Jeanine was very excited to win the word search contest. Quote -I never win anything-unquote.

Yes, I alway get some good natured ribbing for my ubiquitous and "oversized" camera, but they are always happy when the pictures show up.

Thanks again to Chris and Melissa for all of your hard work putting this party together. We had a great time and look forward to next year. M

Note: There is indeed photographic evidence of the word "BOO" on the wall. What is missing is photographic evidence of a fellow partygoer adding the word! Guess we should have hidden the paint until after the word search! Great pix, Mike!! (as usual!!) Thanks!

'T'would not be right for ME to say, "Awesome Party", as I was the Host-with-the-most.
However, it was a party that had vast potential. I kinda wish I had made that potential known early on, so that the guests could've partaken of 'said potential' (especially in the blacklight room).

Note to Self: In the future, provide smocks.

Once again, kudos to Mike and his ubiquitous camera for documenting the party.

Then again, if you REALLY wanted to know what it was like, you would've been there, losers.

Let this be a lesson to you.
