Football season!

It's hard to believe the football drought is finally over. It was heartbreaking last year when Joshua's collarbone snapped again in the final practice before the season started. He was so excited when the doctor cleared him to play this year.

We packed up the Durango and headed down to Colorado Springs to watch Ponderosa play Rampart. Cynthia's parents and sister came along as well.

It was a perfect day for football, although Cristian can get distracted from time to time..

Joshua played both sides of the ball as Fullback and Middle Linebacker..

It got rough out there and he ended up with some pretty sore ribs.

It's not easy playing both offense and defense most of the time. Near the end of the game he was pretty wiped out.

By the time he got home, it was game over.

DNC Thursday8-28-08

Last day of the DNC. Woo Hoo! It has been ridiculously busy downtown this week.

The un-Christians are still here too..

Enough about them. I'll be glad when they are gone.

MSNBC is still reporting from across the street and atracting large crowds.

Keith Olberman made an appearance.

Further down the 16th Street Mall there was a large crowd gathering as some celebrities made their way from Earl's restaraunt to the Hard Rock Cafe. I got lucky with a few shots.

I'm not positive, but I think that is Vivica Fox to the left of Spike Lee..

Angela Bassett (white hat) – How Stella Got Her Groove Back, What’s Love Got to Do with It

Zooey Deschanel – The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Elf

Ellen Burstyn – Ya Ya Sisterhood, How to Make an American Quilt, The Exorcist

Tony Goldwyn – The Last Samurai, Kiss the Girls, Ghost

Josh Lucas (left) – Poseidon, Glory Road, Sweet Home Alabama
Tim Daly (right) – Wings, The Fugitive

Matthew Modine (tall) – Pacific Heights, Memphis Belle, Full Metal Jacket

Toni Colette – About a Boy, The Sixth Sense, Muriel’s Wedding

Union Pacific fired up ol' #844 and backed it up in preparation to leave Denver. It sure was cool to see it downtown for the last week.

DNC week Tuesday, 8-26-08

Wow, has it been crazy downtown with the Democratic National Convention in town. Fortunately, the number of protesters in town has not lived up to the hype. There were maybe 3 people in the fenced off "protest area" today. What a waste of barbed wire.

The most offensive people to me are the "Christians" downtown who don't seem to have a very Christian like attitude. They seem full of hate and judgement. How do you get people interested in Christ by carrying large signs saying "homo sex is a sin"? While it may be true, this is not the spirit of love and acceptance that brings people into church next Sunday. Seems to me that their goal is more about showing people how "righteous" they are than sharing the Word.

Ok, enough of the rant. There are some cool items worthy of note downtown this week. Union Pacific Railroad has several trains parked down at Union Station. The last one below is two passenger trains parked side by side with a bridge across the front and middle to allow party goers to cross from train to train.

The coolest train has got to be the big steam engine #844.

I know that is quite a few pictures, but I have had several requests for them. Hope everyone is happy.

In addition to the trains, MSNBC is broadcasting live across the treet.

Later in the day the crowds started to get bigger and caught the attention of the police...

The police eventually decided that nothing exciting was going to happen and left to seek richer pastures.

I caught up with them again later. M
